Avoid the long lines at the bank. Learn how to pay your taxes online

If your business is not registered with electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS) of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) , you could end-up having to spend hours in line at BIR accredited banks on tax payment due dates.
Large corporations and specific industries are mandated to use eFPS. This allows them to pay their taxes online directly through their banks’ respective Internet banking taxesfacilities. Technically every business can register to eFPS but a lot of SMEs still file their taxes manually through eBIR and pay at the bank.
Unless you like standing in line, you actually have several options to pay your taxes online even if you are not registered to eFPS. Here is a step-by-step description on how you would need to proceed.
One easy option is to pay through GCash, the electronic wallet application developed by Globe. GCash charges PHP10 for the services which is quite affordable considering the amount of time you could save.

Late last year, the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) tied-up with the BIR to enable taxpayers to process their tax payment online using Philippine-issued credit/debit/prepaid cards. DBP charges PHP35 per transaction for payments by Debit Card and PHP35 + 2% of the tax amount for payments by Credit Card.
Landbank also provides a similar gateway called Link.BizPortal.

These options for SMEs to pay their taxes online are a long awaited addition to the growing variety of cloud and online services available to entrepreneurs and SMEs in the Philippines. You may still not enjoy paying your taxes next time you do it online but at least you would have saved the time, travel and potential headache.
